Metro work not started in Kalyan-Dombivli still KDMC putting 2% metro cess: Developers association
KALYAN: Metro work has not started in Kalyan-Dombivli since last seven years but still Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) is putting 2% metro cess on house purchase from people, which was opposed by the Developers Association's MCHI CREDAI of Kalyan-Dombivli on Friday.
According to the developers, the KDMC is the only civic body in Mumbai Metropolitan Region that has levied additional 1% LBT along with metro cess on all the building projects, whose burden falls on the customers.
Developers demanded the state government to cancel metro cess till metro come into existence in city.
The MCHI Kalyan-Dombivli is holding its 11th Real Estate and Housing Finance Exhibition from May 19 to May 22 at Fadke ground in Kalyan in which over 35 developers to participate and over 150 projects under one roof will be displayed for home buyers starting home prices of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 1. 5 crore.
Shrikant Shitole, ex-president of MCHI CREDAI, said, "After Covid period ended there is boom in sales of homes and we hope at exhibition we will get good response."
Ravi Patil, member of MCHI said, "We are raising demand with state government to cancel Metro Cess charged by KDMC from developers till Metro work start in city of which burden ultimately goes to customers." Patil further said, "The state should also cancel 1% LBT charged by KDMC from developers in city because KDMC is only civic body in state charging LBT by doing this customers will get benefited."
