Mumbai: Adani Electricity supplies power on emergency basis in quarantine areas
Adani Electricity has begun installing and supplying electricity on an emergency basis in several new quarantine areas as most of them lack access to power, officials said on April 16.
A senior Adani official stated: "There are several vacant buildings, and un-inhabited complexes which have been converted to quarantine facilities. Adani Electricity has been providing uninterrupted electricity supply on priority, to all the affected locations in the western and eastern areas including hospitals that fall under their purview such as a Maternity Care Centre in Shivaji Nagar, an MCGM hospital in Andheri and a few more residential areas that are under quarantine."
Power supply has been released to 2957 flats and 9 hospitals with 500 bed capacity identified for quarantine purpose. An additional 455 flats electrification is in progress for quarantine purpose, officials said. "The supply was released within 24 hours to a 30,000 sq feet camp at Versova ground built by Maharashtra Home Guards with a capacity to accommodate 500 people," a company spokesperson said in a statement issued to media.
"In cooperation with BMC, collector, civil defence directorate and SRA authorities, Adani has provided electricity connections in various quarantine centers across the city, which lacked electricity access," the spokesperson added.
