Thane Metro 4 Project Nears Completion, Easing Traffic Woes
The ongoing Wadala-Ghatkopar-Kasarvadavali Metro 4 project is set to offer relief to Thane residents grappling with traffic congestion. During a recent inspection conducted by MP Rajan Vichare and officials from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), it was revealed that the project is currently 65.32 percent complete and is on track to be finalized by December 2025. Once operational, the Metro 4 line promises a smoother commute for Thane residents and potential alleviation of traffic congestion on Ghodbunder Road, as well as easing stress on Central Railway traffic.
Government Support and Funding
The Thane Municipal Corporation has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) amounting to Rs. 10,412.61 crores, which has been submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. With approval from the state government already secured, the project is poised to receive further support. However, progress on the internal metro project has been hindered due to pending approval from the central government.
