MahaRERA Cancels Registration of Nearly 14,000 Real Estate Agents for Failure to Renew Licenses
The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has taken decisive action by revoking the registration of 13,785 real estate agents who neglected to renew their licenses, originally obtained in 2017. These agents must undergo mandatory training and secure certification if they intend to resume operations as property brokers, as per the regulator's announcement.
The list of delisted agents, comprising close to 14,000 individuals, has been made publicly available on the regulator's website. Among the affected agents, the highest concentration hails from Mumbai city and its suburbs, totaling 6,291, followed by Thane with 3,075, and Pune with 2,349 agents.
While MahaRERA has witnessed an influx of new agent registrations, the overall count has dwindled due to non-renewal. In an effort to maintain industry standards, the regulator recently conducted its fourth round of examinations for real estate agents, with 1,767 candidates participating, of whom 1,527 successfully passed. This move underscores MahaRERA's commitment to enforcing compliance within the real estate sector and ensuring professionalism among its agents.
